TIPS AND TRICKS: PACKING YOUR TRUNK 101

On most tours you are given the option of a trunk that the company will travel for you.  This is AWESOME because shoes and beauty products are heavy and I HATE paying overweight baggage fees at the airport.  Here is a step by step guide for packing your trunk:

1.  It's helpful to lay everything out in an organized fashion - that way you can see everything clearly and it goes into your trunk perfectly folded and organized.  Remember:  you want to put things into your trunk that are heavy, bulky, and that you can live without for a few days.

2.  I generally place bulky, solid things along the bottom of the trunk (shoes, hot rollers, beauty products, books, candles, etc)  That way - when you have to sit on your trunk to close it (which I often have to do!) you aren't trying to squish things that don't want to be squished!

3.  I layer clothes, jackets, purses, bags, etc on top - this way you can sit on it without worrying about breaking anything AND putting the soft stuff at the top creates a fluffy layer for the breakable things below.

4.  It's important to purchase a master lock that has a key - I keep a lot of valuables in my trunk and it's nice to know it's locked up safe and sound.  TIP: when putting the lock on your trunk - place it upside down with the key-hole facing up.  It's a lot easier to get to when you're ready to unlock it!

EXTRA TIPS:

~ I like to add a sweet smelling sachet to my trunk (winter clothes, boots and gym shoes can smell funky) dryer sheets also work well - lavender is my favorite!

~ You should keep a re-useable bag in your trunk for transporting items back and forth from your trunk at the theater to your hotel.  My lovely friend Briana Carlson-Goodman gave me an amazing gift and I use it ALL the time.  It's called a "Shop n Tote" and it is the best.  This little bag folds out of itself, is sturdy, eco friendly, super chic, and holds a ton of items!  Here is how it works:

Greatest thing EVER!  Thanks Briana!

There you have it - packing your trunk like a travel ninja!
