STEAL THIS STYLE: The Princess and the Frog: Princess Tiana edition

Since we are spending the week in the big easy I thought it would be fitting to do a New Orleans post!  One of my all time favorite Disney movies is The Princess and The Frog.  I adore the story, the music is BEYOND and Tiana is my favorite, spunky princess.  I love the style of this movie - steal it below!

TBags Los Angeles Halter Dress:
This sweet, drape - y dress is super flattering and the perfect sunny shade of yellow!

ASOS Midi Dress:
I love the scoop neck and cinched - in waist of this dress - plus the midi length makes it perfect for pairing with sky-high booties.

Nasty Gal Sunny Side Dress:
This is the perfect light, easy dress - you can do absolutely anything to it - dress it up with a sequined jacket and strappy sandals or add a leather belt and pair with flats.

Rebecca Minkoff Becky Jacket:
The shape of this jacket is so chic and elegant - plus the color really pops and not in an obnoxious way.

Forever 21 Shawl Lapel Longline Coat:
I love a long coat over a short, flirty dress.  This one has a special collar that makes it stand out - PLUS the price is AMAZING!

Rag & Bone Varick Coat:
This one is a little pricey but SO worth it.  I adore the Rag & Bone line because of the beautiful quality and thoughtful details.  This coat has an amazing hood that comes up for those chilly evenings in the Quarter.
Modcloth Clouche Encounter:
I am not usually a fan of these types of hats but this one was so simple and stylish that I had to include it - Tiana herself would look fetching in it!  Plus you can't beat the price for how well - made it is.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hobo:
I am IN LOVE with Marc Jacobs' handbags.  This one is made of supple, buttery, delicious leather and can be worn in so many different ways.  The strap is long enough for a cross - body style, or it can be slung over your arm like a southern lady.  Perfect for when you are dashing to work on the trolly!

 Modcloth Slice Knowing You Bootie:
This is one sexy shoe.  The platform gives you a long, lean line and the color is the perfect neutral for anything.  Plus the price is delicious!

Max Kibardin Mallorca Boots:
Decadent.  Extremely well made.  Delicious, creamy leather.  These would look sexy under pants, with leggings, skirts or dresses.  The perfect luxury neutral.

Topshop Skull Bullet Bracelet:
What good is a New Orleans post without a little voodoo style thrown in?  I love this bracelet - so sexy and tough in a subtle way.  The Shadow Man would approve.

Shop Suey Frog Brooch:
I HAD to include this adorable, sparkly froggy brooch.  I'm so into brooches lately and this one is PERFECT for our sweet frog princess - I like that it's chic and not corny.  This would look excellent on the lapel of a sexy leather jacket!

STEAL THIS STYLE: American Horror Story: Asylum - Lana Winters Edition

It's October and that means a new, EPIC season of American Horror Story.  I am slightly obsessed and I LOVE that this season is set in the 1960's.  One of my favorite characters is the gorgeous and smart Ms. Lana Winters.  Her style is chic and fantastic and SO on trend right now - here is how you can steal it:

H & M Fitted Blazer:
Every good reporter needs a chic, professional blazer.  This one is phenomenal AND it's cheap!

Alice and Olivia Celeste Collarless Blazer:
A little more expensive but I LOVE the color and it will last forever.

TOPSHOP Cape Pussybow Blouse:
Layering a flowy, ladylike blouse under a fitted blazer is a classic look - this one would look amazing under the yellow one above.

DVF Hayden Print Silk Blouse:
The black and white print is a perfect neutral for layering under just about any color blazer.  I LOVE the ruffled bib!

Forever 21 Solid Trim Jacquard Skirt:
The sleek, pencil - cut skirt is ultra flattering and the rich material makes this cheapie piece look VERY expensive.

Modcloth Colored Pencil Sketch Skirt:
I love that the color palette of this skirt is a throwback to the 60's.  Plus it's stretchy and will hug every curve perfectly.

Hue Backseam Stockings:
This is my favorite brand for tights and leggings - they are super affordable AND very high quality.  Lana would TOTALLY rock a sensible pair of stockings with a sexy seam up the back.

Juicy Couture Pointy Toe Pumps:
I love a crazy unexpected pop of color to spice up an outfit.  If the rest of your ensemble is professional and understated it's fun to add a saucy accessory.  The color is AMAZE.

Nicholas Amore Cap Toe Pumps:
The crisp winter white of these pumps is so chic!  Then there is that tough, sexy silver toe.  Love.  These.

Modcloth Tea Set the Scene Pin:
I love the old - school glamour of a brooch.  It adds a special touch to blazers, blouses, and coats.  Modcloth has a GREAT selection and they are VERY affordable.

Etsy Antique Sterling Silver Initial Pin:
This is an authentic vintage pin that I found on Etsy - there is a huge selection if you want a REAL brooch! I chose a curvy, delightful "L" for our reporter extraordinaire.

MAC Lipstick in Impassioned:
Lana wouldn't wear a deep red - I think she is more of a pinky - mauve kind of girl.  This one is a little more modern and the formula is creamy and long lasting.

Butter Nail Laquer in Trout Pout:
This color would look gorgeous on a mid-length curved nail.  So polished and chic.  And VERY Ms. Winters.

Tiffany Sterling Silver Ball Point Pen:
Every reporter should have a trusty, fancy ballpoint pen.  The Tiffany Sterling Silver version is a classic.  I always try to have a nice pen floating around in my handbag.

SIGNATURE LOOK

I am a huge advocate of having a signature look.  Whether it's make - up, a favorite perfume, or a trusty pearl necklace - it makes you unique.  Some of my favorite ladies have a signature look (Marie Antoinette's towering hair styles, Liz Taylor's gorgeous brows, Isabella Blow's divine hat collection)

Personally, I have been partial to the glowing skin/thick, winged liquid liner look for as long as I can remember.  SO, I thought I would share my method with YOU, lovely readers!

TOOLS:

Begin with a freshly - scrubbed face (I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub for that polished glow)

MOISTURIZER/FOUNDATION:  I like to mix my own moisturizer/coverage/glow combo - I squirt a little Oil of Olay Daily Moisturizer, Stila Tinted Moisturizer in Tone, and Nars Illuminator in Orgasm then rub them all together.

Thoroughly rub onto face until completely absorbed - don't forget to blend past your jawbone (I can't stand that ring of foundation look!)
CONCEALER:  Cover up!  I use Benefit Boi~ing in 02.  I have looked EVERYWHERE for the perfect cover up and this stuff is GENIUS.  I can use it for everyday AND it stays put during three hours of Les Mis.  Chin, under eye, and down my nose.

POWDER:  Set with powder - I only powder my chin, nose, forehead, and eyes - I want to keep that glowy-skin look.  Having a shiny T-Zone just looks messy.  I use Clinique Transparent Loose Powder in 02
Use a large, fluffy powder brush for forehead, nose and chin.

Use a smaller, circular brush for over and under eyes.
Prep brows with a spooley tool (it looks like a long mascara wand) this helps the hairs to lie down so filling them in will be easier
BROWS:  I use the BEST EYEBROW PENCIL EVER - Sephora brand Waterproof Retractable Eyebrow Pencil in Rich Chestnut.  It is amazing for filling and extending the brows AND it's cheap!  My favorite thing EVER.

I fill in and extend my brows a tiny bit for that perfect point

BLUSH:  I adore a creamy blush - it is easy to apply and it looks more natural than powder.  My absolute FAVORITE is NARS The Multiple in Maui.

You will look like a clown for a moment - but the end result is a gorgeous, natural flush!

HIGHLIGHT:  Now I use a mineral highlight powder on lids and cheeks to add a shimmer and glow - the one I am using here is by Mica Beauty in Tease.  Use a stiff concealer brush for the best application.

SHADOW:  I apply a light, shimmery brown on my lids and crease using a rounded shadow brush - the shadow I'm using here is the same brand as the highlighter - Mica Beauty Shimmer Powder in Deep Secrets.  You can also blend with your ring finger if you are so inclined!

LIQUID LINER:  And now for my signature eyeliner:  The BEST liquid liner I have found after trying literally HUNDREDS is Sephora Brand Long Lasting Liquid Liner in Dark Brown.  The tip is like a tiny felt pen and it goes on smoothly and evenly and stays put FOREVER.  I also use this during the show and I rarely need to reapply.

This step takes LOTS of practice to finally master - I like to trace my lash line and gradually add the wing at the end - there is no real "fail proof" way to do it - just practice, practice, practice!

MASCARA:  My absolute favorite is Benefit Bad Gal Lash in Black.  This mascara is great for giving you a "fake lashes" look.  I use about a million coats on each eye.

 Apply on top -
 And bottom

Looks fake, right?  Obsessed with this mascara!

FINAL TOUCH:  I like to use a nude, creamy, shimmery lip gloss - my favorite is: surprise, surprise!  Sephora Lip Gloss in Beige Craze

There you have it!  My signature look! (To purchase the products in this post - just click on the name!)
