Providence is a fantastic city filled with great little gems everywhere you turn. Sadly, we were only there for a week but here's a little taste of what I found:
SHOPPING:
PROVIDENCE PLACE MALL:
This mall is fantastic. It has literally everything you could possibly need. So many chain stores and chain restaurants. It's a really fun place to have a great, suburbanite - style afternoon. As a bonus, the Nordstrom Half Yearly Women's Sale was happening while we were there! You better believe I did some SERIOUS damage. I also had a pretty good time in H & M (duh), Sephora (double duh) and Forever 21 accessories (I mean...) For a list of stores and restaurants click HERE! If you come to Providence I would definitely check out this beautiful mall!
This is a quirky, funky, fantastic boutique that has pretty much everything a girl could ask for. Shoes. Amazing accessories. Gorgeous decor. And beautiful, friendly sales people. They have everything from Frye boots to inexpensive, funky rings and necklaces. I LOVED this store and I highly recommend it.
BONUS: You can purchase items from Modern Love ONLINE! YAY!
The sister store to Modern Love and just as epic. They have gorgeous, special, one-of-a-kind dresses, accessories, and their own make up line! They also have an amazing in – house label called Lucille that has the most INCREDIBLE cocktail dresses. The creative genius behind this line is the stores’ owner, Karen Beebe. She actually has her workshop in-store (it totally adds to the funky décor). I ended up buying an AMAZING pinky ring with a vintage bunny button (in honor of my little sister, THE ornery bunny). If you go in, ask for Liz – she was so helpful and sweet (she is the one holding up dresses from the Lucille line below!) Check out their blog HERE
Clover is one of those super chic, minimalist stores. The clothes are thoughtfully chosen and beautifully merchandised. This store kind of reminded me of Barneys – chic, clean looking clothes with funky, gorgeous jewelry. Another great thing about Clover is the men’s denim. A HUGE selection that includes one of my favorites, J. Brand jeans. If you stop in, ask for Jillian – adorable, chic, and can answer all of your questions!
The quintessential home store. This gorgeous space is crammed full of amazing things to decorate your home with. Not only do they have wonderful vases, pictures frames, candles, etc, but they have the best selection of vintage postcards EVER (I got some for the fam). Homestyle also has a pretty excellent selection of funky rings. If you venture in, ask for Rebecca – she was so sweet and helpful and had a ton of knowledge about the different artists’ work in the store.
It’s so refreshing to see a fully stocked, wonderfully vintage - looking bookstore. Symposium is crammed full to the rafters of all kinds of titles, old and new. It has that great bookstore smell AND has a little café next door called Tazza with an INSANE drink menu. Beyond.
I was drawn into this café after a full day of shopping ready for a little lunch. Jesse (the handsome fella sipping the coffee below) and Brian (the dashing gent busy whipping up a latte), the expert baristas, and an AMAZING case of pastries greeted me. They specialize in delicious coffee and delectable, farm fresh food. I ordered a peppermint tea, a fresh fruit pastry and probably the most delicious sandwich I’ve ever eaten. It was Italian style with swiss, salami, micro greens, tomato, and balsamic vinegar (featured above). SO GOOD. Plus they have free wi-fi and big, comfy couches. I could easily spend an entire afternoon there.
PROVIDENCE COACH:
This is a GREAT, reliable, VERY affordable car service. My driver, Sam, was extremely knowledgeable about the city and all of it’s many hidden treasures. He was prompt and extremely cheerful. I would definitely use this car service if you are ever in town and in need of a ride! Here is their info: Providence Coach, Ed Raso (owner) (401) 374 – 5729An INCREDIBLE little restaurant. Alan and I had an early dinner here between shows and it was BEYOND. The service was spot on, the atmosphere is so sexy (great lighting – SO important) and the food was swoon-worthy. I had a pan-seared chicken breast with crispy skin (my FAVORITE) on a bed of baby pearl pasta with dried cranberries and walnuts, and skinny, succulent asparagus. We also split a side of the creamiest, most velvety mashed potatoes I have EVER eaten. We both agreed we could have taken a swim in a giant vat of them. I HIGHLY recommend this little gem. Come hungry!
Warf Clothing and Wares
This is an incredible clothing store for men on the same street as Modern Love and Queen of Hearts. I brought Cole along to have play time in the store. It is filled with super special, chic, out-doorsy inspired clothing and accessories. They have amazing bags, shoes, coats, sunglasses and an entire line of shaving products. If you decide to pop in, ask for Anthony - he was so much fun and basically let us run wild in the store shooting photos and trying things on. BONUS: They have the most luxuriously soft t-shirts that can EASILY be for a man or woman - and for $20 a pop you can get a bunch! This is a highly recommended boutique for the fashionable man on tour!
